Hype has been building for weeks that the company would unveil new products the second week of September, but [background=transparent]Apple[/background] [background=transparent]([url="http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=AAPL&source=story_quote_link"]AAPL[/url], [url="http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/2012/snapshots/670.html?iid=EL"]Fortune 500[/url])[/background] made it official Tuesday.[/background][/size][/font][font=Lato, Arial, serif][size=4][background=transparent]
The company has all but confirmed it will be launching a new iPhone, and the invitation does nothing to quell the rumors. The invite is bursting with bright pastel bubbles in the same color scheme that's used for the[url="http://money.cnn.com/2013/06/10/technology/mobile/apple-ios7-event/index.html?iid=EL"] iOS 7 [/url]operating system on which its new iPhone will likelyrun.[/background][/size][/font][font=Lato, Arial, serif][size=4][background=transparent]

Along with a new iPhone, reports are split on whether a refreshed iPad is also on tap. There's a lot of speculation about [url="http://money.cnn.com/gallery/technology/innovation/2013/05/14/apple-rumors/index.html?iid=EL"]what products Apple might come out with next[/url], including a low-cost phone, an iWatch and its long-awaited TV.[/background][/size][/font][font=Lato, Arial, serif][size=4][background=transparent]
The event comes at a crucial time for the company. While sales for the iPhone and iPad have mostly been rising, [background=transparent]Google's[/background] [background=transparent]([url="http://money.cnn.com/quote/quote.html?symb=GOOG&source=story_quote_link"]GOOG[/url], [url="http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune500/2012/snapshots/11207.html?iid=EL"]Fortune 500[/url])[/background] Android is growing at a much faster clip. Thus far, [url="http://money.cnn.com/2013/09/03/technology/mobile/apple-market-share/index.html?iid=EL"]Apple hasn't been able to pump the brakes[/url] on the trend.[/background][/size][/font][font=Lato, Arial, serif][size=4][background=transparent]
Part of the problem is that Apple hasn't launched a new smartphone or tablet in about a year, while rivals are releasing new devices far more frequently.[/background][/size][/font][font=Lato, Arial, serif][size=4][background=transparent]
Shares of the company were up about 1% in midday trading.[/background][/size][/font][/background][/size][/font][/color]
