The Andhra Pradesh Beverage Corporation Limited (APBCL) is yet to release the official figures for August, but sources in the state-run wholesale vendor point out that sale of liquor was normal in Seemandhra districts. "The agitation is by and large peaceful and mostly held during day time. There is no instance of the police clamping curfew or prohibitory orders. This is the main reason why liquor sales are not affected," said an excise superintendent.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=verdana, geneva, lucida,]He said the APBCL and the excise department had taken some preventive measures keeping the ongoing agitation in mind and the stocks were being issued to retail dealers only in the evenings so that there should not any disturbance at the counter or godown during transportation.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=verdana, geneva, lucida,]"Dealers have been informed to lift the stock only in the evenings and this has been helping us," said D Venkateswar Rao, president of Twin Cities' Wine Dealers Association. And in the month of August, over 35 lakh cases of beer and 47 lakh cases of IML were sold across the state. The total sale volume was Rs 1,675 crore. The corresponding figures for the same month last year were 32.83 lakh cases of beer and 44.41 lakh cases of IML.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=verdana, geneva, lucida,]Interestingly, liquor sale in Hyderabad, where Samaikyandhra heat is relatively low, recorded a marginal decline of 5%, while Seemandhra region showed a growth of 10% in the month of August.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=verdana, geneva, lucida,]Jyothi Kiran, excise superintendent of Hyderabad, attributed this to the decline in the floating population in the city during agitation. "Though the city is calm, the agitation has restricted movement of floating population.
