The Lok Satta Party is gearing up to consolidate its large support base acquired in the elections by opening citizen service centres across the State.

The citizen service centres would serve as bridges between people and the government.

They will take up a number of citizen centric initiatives irrespective of the outcome of elections, said Lok Satta Party president Jayaprakash Narayan.

Addressing party contestants and campaign organisers here on Monday, he said the Lok Satta emerged as real victor in the current elections in view of the silent support it had earned by lakhs of youth, women, middle classes and sections of the poor without inducing voters with money or liquor anywhere in the State.

‘A miracle’

When the so-called top leaders of all traditional and new parties had to buy votes even in their own constituencies, what Lok Satta achieved was nothing short of a miracle, he said.

Asking party leaders and cadres not to be disappointed at the electoral outcome in term of numbers, he said the party had succeeded in laying the foundation for transforming the nature of politics.

The Lok Satta with a formidable base in urban regions would leverage it in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections.

The enormous goodwill the party garnered in villages would also be converted into political strength, Mr. Jayaprakash said.

Health problems

The service centres would also serve as counselling centres for unemployed youth and try to provide livelihood opportunities to them depending on their skills. The party workers would select a village in every mandal and try to address problems concerning health or education with cooperation of local people.

The party would wage an all-out war against illegal belt shops and help people get themselves registered as voters and get errors in voters’ lists rectified.
