While I admire Modi for his vision, I would like to draw some attention to the real reasons why Gujarat is so successful.
The Gujarat as you see through the eyes of a Modi fan is no different from what it was since 300-400 years.
They were the first generation immigrants to the West because they have access to the Navigation, the industry that British excelled at the peak of their Empire. That way there was a strong connection established between Gujaratis and immigration destinations like UK< Europe, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and many other British Colonies. Now they are the sixth generation immigrants in UK.

Apart from that they have business in their blood. Modi was successful in generating Hindu sentiment through Godra riots.

agree with you. but, in the past decade.. when the whole nation is going down, only couple of states were able to stand tall among them... Gujarat is one and Madhya Pradesh being the other .... both are led by BJP governments. Don't you think we have to give them both atleast some of the credit for withstanding opposition from central, at the same time providing everything in their state and living up to the expectations of people ?? Modi deserves some credit man..

idi cinema kaadu, State CM hero nu kaadu.

His job is to create the right environment for people to live in.

Maintain law and order - he has done
Provide Infrastructure - he has done
Health and citizen wellness - he has a lot to do on this front.

Remember he's a politician, and will take any opportunity to grab power and is no different from other successful politician. Its already settled that he didn't instigate the riots, and several stories about the riots like fetus killing, raping of jaffri's daughter have proved to be false in the court.

Its not like the others in contention are saints. Especially Sonia Gandhi with her fascist background, and other corrupt top congress leaders.

Inka chaalu. There are a lot of things to criticize Modi on. Just don't bring in the Godhra riots and dilute your argument. That he's cultivated an image as Hindu leader in his early political life is his strategy. What to do, wasn't his mistake that he wasn't born into the Gandhi family.

In my humble opinion, India's best states are Maharashtra, Haryana and TamilNadu. Add kerala too, if you take citizen well being very seriously.

Gujarat lags in malnutrition, health care traditionally, though there has been some improvement recently. MP is a very poor state, and can't be compared to heavyweights I have listed above.

That said, Gujarat has to be number 1 for infrastructure provided for companies. Sadly many people languish below poverty line in Gujarat, perhaps because of its very harsh geography.

I forgot to add Himachal Pradesh. This is based on health care access to "every" citizen living in these states. Number of live births in hospitals (not in some small hut somewhere without medical attention)
Number of literate people in the age group 18-35, etc.

Gujarat lags in all these aspects. And people forget that majority of India lives hand to mouth existence and the citizens in these states are much better off compared to others.

Andhra was good with healthcare until recently, although it lags severely behind in access to education.

state govt maintain chese data thappu antaava?

There's no other source in India for these kind of data other than the govt itself.

Have you ever wondered why TamilNadu has 40 lok sabha seats, when Guj which has equal population has much lesser seats? Its based on a 1977 law that awards states that have less pop growth rates.

Also check out the funding allocation to states from planning commission site. AP, Guj gets a huge share of the central pool, while TN, Mah gets very very less, because they are well developed.
