On Twitter, some users uncharitably referred to Davuluri, the daughter of a gynaecologist who emigrated from India 30 years ago, as an Arab and a terrorist with ties to Al Qaeda. However, in the West where people spend a fortune on tanning machines and lotions and love to bask in the sun, her dark skin actually worked to her advantage. It seems Nina is single – an American man may see something attractive in her but she would not stand out in front of the eyes of most Indian men.
