The Paper Bag Boy

[size=5][font=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Not yet a teenager, Abdul Muqeet is taking a stand against waste. After learning of the harmful effects of plastic waste through the “UAE Free of Plastic Bags” campaign in 2010, Abdul developed – on his own initiative – carry bags made entirely from old newspapers. In 2011, Abdul donated 4'000 of these 100% recycled material bags to various shops in Abu Dhabi. He thus earned himself the affectionate nickname “The Paper Bag Boy” and, to his own surprise, won an Abu Dhabi Award for environmentalism. Additionally, he was invited to the United Nations Environment Programme's Tunza Summit to demonstrate his commitment to the environment and has since been actively spreading his message of “zero waste” around the world.
