First talk to court clerk to see if you guys can reach a settlement. Mostly, not if it is on the phone. Request them to talk to a judge over the phone as you were just visiting. Talk to him and explain if it was your first time and reason if any. When you talk to the court that person may say we don't do court appointments/conversations over the phone. Try with a different person. They usually allow you to talk to a judge over the phone.

[/quote]You are no President to attend the court proceedings over the phone and expect the Police officer to turn up in person. Law is the same for everyone. If you want to contest in the case, you need to be present in person. When the Judge is on the phone, you are trying to resolve the issue without the Police officer in which case the scenario is you are accepting the guilt and looking for a resolution. You can plead the Judge for any alternatives to not have the points on your record. You can even argue that you did not do it but it will not help. If you have any theories arguing in person will help you else you can state your theories and reasons, and ask the judge to excuse you this one time because it is your first ticket or whatever. You can tell him that you want to pay the fine and (if needed) defensive classes/community service hours as an alternative to drop your points. In most cases, he will agree unless you end up with a strict judge or judge in a bad mood. Also remember you are above 30mph so better not to argue unless you have a genuine case.

Dude, I had the same exp. in Florida. But that was my first ticket with exceeding 15miles on 40 miles speed rd. after few weeks, I received a mail from an attorney, florida, mentioned that you can plead for not guilty and also mention that they will take care of all the court stuff. I have to just pay the court fees or fines long with his service fee. I didn't take the exam and no points. But I paid fine and his fee. That's my exp. hope it's helpful.
