In Texas, radar detectors are [b]LEGAL [/b]to use in non-commercial vehicles. Since radar detectors are legal to use in Texas, you don't necessarily need to spend the extra money to get a radar detector that is invisible to police radar detectors (RDD).

However, it is important to purchase a radar detector that detects ALL police radar bands, including the new POP3 and instant-on radar. It is also important to purchase a radar detector that detects at great distances, around blind curves, and over the top of hills where speed traps are typically located. And it is also important that your radar detector provides the minimum number of false alerts. Cheap radar detectors fail in all of these respects. I suggest that you purchase the best radar detector that you can afford.
