PhD enduku ivvaru.. baa..

they need worker bees who'll work for twice the time @ half the salary that is paid in corporates.

and there's no big jump in salary with a PhD when you get back into the industry..

unless you are brilliant to begin with.. which, if you were, you wouldn't need a PhD in the first place.

however, if you want an academic career.. PhD is mandatory.. but universities generally produce more PhDs than they can hire.

So all the best.

the question is not how to get a PhD, but whether you should get one.. and its a serious question you should ask yourself before you get into it.

I am talking about the unys in the tier1-or tier2.

getting PhD admin in tier 3 with funding is lot easier than getting Ms Admin in tier 2 with funding

define top university.

never mind. PhD would still be a bad idea for someone who'd like to get back to real work, unless they are happy being underpaid for the next 10-15 yrs in academia.

what's the funding like? barely surviving salary.

that's the whole idea of the scam called PhD.

is MIT tier 1 enough.. did you check what they give as 'funding' for a PhD student there?

ofcourse if the entire idea is to escape India and into the US...

then you are on the right course. haha..

you can even take the job as a dishwasher in US to escape India.

I am totally respecting ur ideology.

but my question is in India,

1)a person returned with 5 yrs exp from usa to India?

2) a person with PhD returned to India?

in the time of recession worldwide.

who can get a job immediately?

Top University is - top university in the field, nothing more nothing less, contacts, networking is very important in PhD and depends a lot on the research done in those Univs.

oh worker visa na..

I don't think a simple PhD would come under people with "extra-ordinary" abilities as defined by the visa requirements.

PhD papers with citations comes under that

yeah I know a guy who did his biochem PhD go to US. It may be under that visa.. He didn't have any 'extra-ordinary' ability as far as I know.. in the sense, no international awards, or even popular professional membership awards.

the requirements are too hazy, and probably under the discretion of the visa officer to award it.

no harm to try it, I guess.
