80 People Killed For Watching Tv Program

Pyongyang - There are reports Monday that 80 people have been publicly executed in North Korea -- their crimes allegedly include including watching South Korean films and distributing pornography.
A report in the Daily Mirror claims 80 public executions took place during a single day, in various cities, across North Korea. The Mirror cites a South Korean publication as its source which could make the claims dubious. However if proved correct they offer proof, if proof was needed, that life inside the reclusive north of Korea is more than just bizarre.
The Joong Ang Ilbo Daily reports that the public exections happened Sunday November 3 in 7 cities across North Korea. A "source" told the south Korean publication:
Some 80 people were publicly executed earlier this month in seven cities in North Korea excluding Pyongyang, the first known large-scale public executions by the Kim Jong-un regime.
According to the publication 10 people were killed in each city. These included Wonsan in Kangwon Province, Chongjin in North Hamgyong Province, Sariwon in North Hwanghae Province and Pyongsong in South Pyongan. Crowds were reportedly forced into stadiums by the authorities to watch the executions. The killing involved the victims being tied to stakes, heads covered before being shot by machine gun fire. The bodies were so bullet riddled they were unrecognisable.
The report also claims that relatives or "accomplices" of the dead were shipped off to brutal prison camps.
