Time To Give Sehwag A Run In The Middle Order Now.

Sachin's place in the batting order can be given to Sehwag for the next tour.. Let him have a couple of series and retire gracefully..

After all, he's the man who won India the highest number of tests through his attacking batting.

I don't see any other excessively talented youngster waiting in line. Rahane's not test material, and I can't even think of any other batting name that can be included.

Okay.. there's Yuvraj. Or may be they can drop Vijay and include Sehwag in there.

What a Pity -

A batsman who has played over 100 Test for his country and averages over 50 ought to be seen as a great. However, unless he does something exceptional during the rest of his career, India’s Virender Sehwag will join the rare of breed of 50 plus averaging batsmen who aren’t viewed as greats. But, being an opener, he is under more scruitiny than any others in the team, and his recent failures even in India damaged all his greatness that way, while the garbage non-performers...rarely get noticed.

Looking at Sehwag’s record in the last couple of years, it would be hard to believe that this is the same batsman whose eleven centuries between December 2003 and July 2008 were all scores in excess of 150, a record in itself. Sehwag began his 150 plus spree by smashing that memorable 195 at Melbourne, that too in one day. His next ton was another unforgettable one – 309 versus Pakistan at Multan in March 2004, an India record which the man himself broke later on!

The rest of his hundreds were as follows–155 vs Australia at Chennai, October 2004, 164 vs South Africa at Kanpur, November 2004, 173 vs Pakistan at Mohali, March 2005, 201 vs Pakistan at Bangalore, March 2005, 254 vs Pakistan at Lahore, January 2006, 180 vs West Indies at Gros Islet, June 2006, 151 vs Australia at Adelaide, January 2008, 319 vs South Africa at Chennai, March 2008 and 201 vs Sri Lanka at Galle, July 2008. Sehwag’s next century was a score of 131 vs Sri Lanka in Kanpur in November 2009, which broke his sequence of 150 scores, and while Sehwag continued to plunder a few more hundreds including the swashbuckling 293, again against Sri Lanka at Mumbai in December 2009,

Alright, his career has been on the decline without doubt, but he is not a garbage item. BCCI needs to talk to him and give him a proper respectable send-off.
