Performances:

Venkatesh: The only worked well for masala is the performance of venkatesh, comedy has always been his strong area and this role has a mass touch added to this and also his trademark emotional factor in the climax. He  entertained as much as he can with his butler English dialogues.

Ram: Ram has done reasonably well and carried two different roles. His dances were good and different in Meenakshi song.

Others: Anjali does not have much scope and she was just adequate. Shahzan padamsee was a total put off and a better known heroine would  have done a good job in that role. Jayaprakash Reddy was good , M S Narayana was fine. Ali ,posani and other artistes were okay. Venumadhav appeared in a blink and miss role.

Technical Departments: Dialogues were fine but more care should have been taken  as movie has more importance to comedy. Camera work was not up to the mark .Editing could have been better overall. Music by Thaman is one of the drawbacks for the film.Songs were weak and Background Score was next to worst .Action Sequences were very bad with excessive wire work.

Story-Screenplay-Direction: Vijaybhaskar is a senior director and has much experience in handling the films. But he was not at all successful in handling Masala. First half is okay with passable scenes ,some punches by venky worked out and only towards interval movie picks up pace. Much more entertainment was expected from the second half but that didn't happen. Director did not took care on the romance track of both heroes and the also the emotional graph towards climax.second half appears too lengthy and boring and climax was not less than a nonsense with cheap visuals/production values.

My Rating: 5/10

Analysis: Masala entertains in parts but cheap production values,Weak Direction/Screenplay make it a boring experience.
