New Delhi: This is definitely a bad news for those desirous of a separate Telangana.

The chief of Intelligence Bureau has made an observation that the carving out of Telangana will throw new challenges before "the secutiry and intelligence agencies at the state and national level".

The comments came at the meeting of DGPs and IGPs on the internal security scenario in the country held here on Thursday. 

IB chief Syed Ibrahim told the meeting that the separation of Telangana is not an issue confined to the state of Andhra Pradesh.  He warned that the new state will bring new security challenges across the country.

He called for “cordial relations” between the Centre and the states in this connection.

The comments of the IB Chief in a way endorse the views expressed by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy during his meeting with the GoM recently. The Chief  Minister had  highlighted in detail the security concerns especially with regard to the possibility of Maoists raising their head again and also the threat from terrorist elements trying to target Hyderabad.

It is notable that in his address to the meeting on internal security, Union Home minister Sushil Kuamr Shinde expressed sadness that the Congress party had to lose its valuable leaders in the Naxal attack that took place in Chhattisgarh.
