BRIDGEWATER — Police answered a domestic dispute call Thursday to find a woman lying on the garage floor, unresponsive, with a rope around her neck, the Somerset County prosecutor said.

But police revived the woman, according to a statement from Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey D. Soriano, Acting Chief of County Detectives Timothy Fitzgerald and Bridgewater Township Acting Chief of Police Manuel Caravela.

Timma R. Kalidindi, 48, of Bridgewater Township, was charged Thursday with attempted murder, a first-degree charge, the statement said. Kalidindi was also charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, it said.

At about 7:48 p.m. Thursday, Bridgewater Police received a 911 call from a Francis Drive residence reporting an active dispute, with the caller describing screaming and loud noises coming from the downstairs part of the home, the statement said.

Police arrived to find Kalidindi at the front door of the residence, where he immediately and voluntarily surrendered, the statement said.

Officers Arthur Akins and Anthony DiGraziano entered the home to find an unresponsive 43-year-old woman lying on the floor of the garage with a braided rope wrapped around her neck, the statement said.

The woman had no pulse and was not breathing, the statement said.

DiGraziano and Officer Kevin Lamey performed life-saving measures on the woman and were able to resuscitate her, the statement said.

The Somerset Medical Center Intensive Care Unit and the Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad took the woman to Somerset Medical Center, where she remained in critical condition as of Friday afternoon, the statement said.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crime Unit and the Bridgewater Township Police Department conducted the investigation, the statement said.

Kalidindi was lodged in the Somerset County Jail, the statement said.

Soriano, Fitzgerald and Caravela ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit at 908-231-7100, Bridgewater Police at 908-722-4111, or the Somerset County Crime Stoppers' Tip Line at 888-577-8477, the statement said.
