posaanisam Posted November 28, 2013 Report Posted November 28, 2013 Gujarat's power utility companies and its officials have bagged three awards at the 7th Enertia Award 2013 for sustainable energy and power. Gujarat has won award for being India's top investment and infrastructure excellent state for energy and power. It is for the sixth consecutive time since the introduction of this category in 2008 that the state has won award in this category. The award was received by Shahmeena Husain, director (administration) and in-charge managing director of the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL). At the same time, the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL) received an award in the category of 'Best performing utility (state)'. DGVCL, a GUVNL subsidiary distribution company operating in South Gujarat region, has received the award for being country's best utility in state sector for the third consecutive year. H S Patel, managing director of DGVCL was declared winner in the category - Power Personas of the Year - for the various segments in power and energy sector. Enertia awards attract India's topmost power and energy companies. These awards are given to both public and private sector enterprises in the power and energy sector. Special focus is on key areas like super critical thermal power, hydro power, solar energy, wind energy, de-centralised and distributed power, utility and smart grid among others. Overall 30 awards have been adjudicated by an eminent jury panel.
