Welcome to geopolitics?? My ass. The biggest mistake Devyani did was trusting the maid and signing a contract with her to pay ₹30,000 per month to her husband every month. She shouldn't have. Now these US officials will wave that contract to show that Devyani lied on visa forms... Otherwise Devyani can easily claim that boarding, lodging of her maid in NY will easily more than exceed the salary she mentioned on the visa forms. Its not like she promised that she'll pay it only in cash. Geneva convention only states that immunity can be waived under serious allegations (like spying). I don't think they add lying on oath in the list. may be you can point me to it.

Big shame on u guys to support a country who plays double standards......pls go through the incidents how US reacted when they have their own diplomats in some ugliest incidents than this. Are bro, where did I support the U.S? Every case has its flaws and merits. I have shouted agaist the U.S more than what u do now, when our beloved APJ Kalam was humiliated badly at PoE. Every one knows that the U.S one f**cking big hypocritical country with not double standards but zillion standards. But that doesn't absolve of the crimes that the Lady has committed. I tell you a few things how our politicians are acting and stupid people are following for that. Durga Shakti Nagpal - An honest IAS officer - Harassed to no end. Devyani Khobraghade - Officer of the same grade, clearly breaking the law and caught by US, defended to the hilt by India. Its a strange society. As you mentioned, I am not supporting the U.S. I am supporting the victim here. the maid. Two things are clear here. One you guys don't give f*8k to the human life and then you guys don't know the sanctity of rule of law. It is because we Indian are deprived of these two. And we don't know the true meaning of these two. Until, the folks are driven by pure emotions without any logic, they are doomed to be fuc*ed by exploiters. Good luck. The weaker people shouldn't be exploited based on their circumstances (be it financial or any other). That was the reason they implemented the strict labor laws in the U.S or EU. If we support these types of scums, tomorrow, we will face the problems from the American people when we go to work there. Again, I stress that I am supporting the maid. Not the U.S. Period.

The maid is a pawn in the game played between Indian and US embassies. She's not a victim.. than rehashing your points, you respond to ones I made to take the argument forward.. Or you'll be stuck in the same place with the same tired arguments.

Whatever man.. US cannot be allowed to punish an Indian diplomat. If a country cannot even defend its diplomat, India should be disbanded and the British invited back to rule India. Let her be tried in India if she did anything wrong.

I don't think they add lying on oath in the list. may be you can point me to it. Bro, thats not one biggest mistake she did. I can list out many. First she signed the contract with the maid without considering the law of the land. US State Department had alerted — in writing — the Indian embassy as early as September this year that there were allegations against the diplomat concerning underpayment of minimum wages and non-compliance, and that action could be imminent under US laws. She didn't act upon. The Govt should have packed her back to our home. But the Govt didn't do and she was not willing to go back. She made the maid to work for 19 hours in a day. and didn't pay the extra amount. Then the maid fled. Another big mistake here is instead of tracking (through common channels) the maid and come to agreeable terms with her, On June 24, 2013 she reported the matter to Office of Foreign Missions which is a big mistake. Even bigger mistake now comes here, The maid or her party called the diplomat asking for the payment of the extra hours, instead of agreeing to some terms, she registered a complaint of harassment, extortion and blackmailing with the NY police Dept. . She also filed a complaint against the maid and her husband back in India with New Delhi police. Considering all these, do you really want to support this lady? Or the maid?
