No Bobby.. Bitcoin is an ingenious way to send money without much transaction costs..

Remember what happened when they tried to make Gold as currency. The same thing will happen if Bitcoin replaces dollar.

 

If you don't remember.. I'll just state it briefly..

 

without much bitcoin production, people will stock bitcoins rather than spend them, which will decrease prices of all commodities in the market... means people will get paid less and less.. until finally only a bunch of people have all the bitcoins, and the rest are slaves to them.

 

one of the principal qualities of a currency is its elasticity. meaning.. ability to increase its supply according to the production of humans, so everyone can have it to spend on stuff..

 

The big debate now is about how to spread the currency around so that it benefits everybody in general. Not about going back to gold standard. Only old fools, and young idiots believe in Bitcoin to replace dollar..

 

But I like it as a way of sending money. It'll be disbanded soon though. Haven't read RBI directions, but that's one institution that banned all forms of online money a while back. Pretty old fashioned bunch of guys there.
