Personally, they are very scared to handle this asset. Nobody knows how the govt will react when the next financial crisis hits. Bitcoin will probably be frozen or banned.

Not long before they'll ban articles speculating bitcoin's future worth, like Securities were in the early 00's. Currently it is being manipulated at will by few blogs, and news outlets.

Its biggest flaw. Once a better crypto currency comes, people will leave bitcoin.

Bitcoin cannot work as a commodity or an asset once its primary goal of being an alternative currency is compromised. At best, it can be used for low cost inernational transactions. You have a very narrow view of bitcoin, claiming that its an asset/commodity that can be traded forever. But remember, with the growing popularity of bitcoins, govt will want to know who's got how many bitcoins, and it'll be difficult to hide illegal money in it, which seems to be its biggest draw right now.. and since bitcoin is digital, its not hard to track down anyone with bitcoins. There will be nowhere to hide.

'securities' were sold for 100 times their worth between financial institutions, just on the hope that somebody or the other will buy it. Bitcoin is the same. The more money goes into it, the faster govt will react.
