Nellore Pedda reddy Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 In a major set back to Sakshi Television, owned by YSR Congress president Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy, News Broadcasting Standards Authority (NBSA) has found fault with the news channel and fined Rs 1 Lakh for telecasting a "flawed, one-sided and misleading story" on Nalsar University girl students.Recently, the channel had telecast showing girl students of Nalsar University in poor light when they celebrated farewell party thrown by their juniors at a city pub in Jubilee Hills. Sakshi TV and many other news channels went onto air stories pointing out at the girl's dress code and culture and demeaned them.The girls have reported the issue to NBSA for airing fabricated stories on them without taking their version into accounts. The girls' alleged that the cameraman of Sakshi TV had trespassed and put his camera into their car in an inappropriate manner. The girls alleged that the channel acted as if they had done crime. The girls have demanded the Government to revoke the licences of the channels for 'violating people's privacy by taking private video footage, morphing images and showing them in poor manner'.Acting against their complaint, NBSA has investigated the matter and found fault with Sakshi TV which is the member of NBA. NBSA directed Sakshi TV to pay Rs 1 Lakh as penalty and asked the channel to run an apology in its scrolling for continuous three days- January 15,16 and 17. NBSA is the self-regulatory initiative by NBA (News Broadcasters Association) to maintain morals, standards in news telecast.
