it means Gita is shorter version of upanishads (not of vedas)

 

 

vedas cointained infinite knowledge needed by everyone

ex: atharvana veda describes rites and rituals, how each should behave in paritcular situation with particular people..

those can't followed in this kaliyuga..

upanishads are more about vedanta. they come after the vedas.  it talks mainly about Bhraman (notice the difference with Brahmin)

 

 

vedas deal with ways to fulfill desires.  you can follow what is described in vedas and then have the wish fulfilled.  if an offering is said to be done thousand times in vedas those days, these days those offerings and the mantras are to be recited crores of times

 

once people are fed up with desires and want to cross this ocean of samsara.. they take resort in upanishads.

you may also watch the movie 'samsara' some tibetian/chinese orgin.. how a monk falls back into family life just one night seeking shelter during his long distance travel
