Darryll Amoako (aka Suli Breaks) was born in London, United Kingdom. He was a gifted kid who enjoyed spending time reading books. With time, this early passion developed into an enthusiasm for art and aspiration to become an artist.

In school, Suli cultivated his love for the English language and began writing stories and poems. Despite his natural and wide ranging flair for numerous types of artistic expressions, Suli dedicated his teenage years to his most beloved sport: basketball. He spent the majority of his time on the court, training and dreaming of one day becoming an NBA player, but, was ultimately forced to give up on basketball when deciding to enroll in University. There, whilst studying law unexcitedly, his passion for art took over once again. He wrote lyrics and rapped with his friends until one day, after being dared to do so, he decided to participate in a poetry slam, which he did with no expectations. To everyone’s surprise, his loud spoken words wrapped his entire crowd in awe – his natural talent was conspicuous. After the amazing response to his performance, Suli’s life took a quick turn. He attended numerous poetry events and became more and more motivated to take this new passion of his to the next level. After University, not wanting to become a lawyer anymore and in need of earning quick money, Suli got a job in a supermarket. Working behind the till, he visualized his future and planned out the next steps of his artistic career. “What changed everything for me was a book I read: The Alchemist. The book allowed me to see that there were people out there that thought the way I did and understood that the world is designed on a greater scale than what we can see in our surroundings.” Inspired and struck by the book’s message, Suli decided to shift the style of his poetry away from entertainment, and instead focus on providing his audience with empowerment. For nearly two years, he worked tirelessly to fulfill this goal; he spent his days working as a cleaner and shoe salesman in order to earn money, and committing his evenings and nights to his artistic aspirations. Next to attending numerous live performances, he worked on building an international audience on YouTube and gradually began making a name for himself. Suli’s breakthrough came in 2012, when in collaboration with his director Kevin, he created 'Why I hate school but I love education' – a video that led to heated online discussions and was shared all over the web. After the success of his video, Suli was finally able to give up on his day jobs and fully commit to his passion for poetry. His words have since reached millions of people worldwide.

Today, Suli continues to reach out to his fans through his loud spoken poetry. His goal remains empowering the world’s younger generations with the perspectives that can change the course of their lives and careers.
