yeah nice movies.. especially Iruvar, my all time fav.

 

Tamil range ki.. Mani ee ekkuva. antha consistent manchi movies inkevaru theeyale..

 

But there's something missing in his films.. I think its originality. 

 

He himself says that he's still searching for that perfect movie.. But I don't think he'll ever find it.. Kadal was that experiment.. It turned out to be a joke.

 

I don't think he's capable of reaching the standards he set for himself.

Vaadi movie lo  least every 10 mins ki edo oka emotion vuntadi , Comedy , action emotion, villanism dedo oka danni elivate chestadu.

What Mani lacks is, authenticity.

 

i.e. when he tries to make movies outside of his comfort zone (non tamil brahmin type family), those movies look and feel very artificial. He hasn't understood those people, and comes across as a disinterested observer.

 

Iruvar was an exception because he already had a great story and two great characters he can play with.

 

All his other movies suffer greatly from this drawback. His introvert nature, and lack of real life experience, being born in a rich family probably stops him laying claim to being an awesome director. 

 

But he's still better than all others in Tamil because he understands the medium like no other. I think he was born to be a filmmaker.
