Ntr's Unfulfilled Wish!

Anybody can identify the legendary actor NTR in the photo above, when observed closely one can also see that he is in the getup of Alluri Sitarama Raju. Whenever NTR wished to play a character, very soon the film used to take shape, either by other producers or under his own banner. Even after entering into politics, NTR never compromised on his love for cinema. He fulfilled his wishes of playing roles like Pothuluri Veera Brahmendra Swami, King Ashoka, Viswamitra, Poet Srinatha etc., and maintained a perfect balance between the two. But, there’s one dream that was left unfulfilled in the star’s career- The role of Alluri Sitarama Raju that the phenomenal actor missed to portray on the silver screen. Though, he got to appear in the getup of Alluri in films like Sardar Paparayudu, Aggiramudu, Major Chandrakanth, NTR never got the chance to play a full length Alluri character.

 

 

Going into the details, NTR was the first one who wanted to bring the patriot’s life on to the silver screen. He decided to make the film in 1955 and approached renowned art direction Madhavapeddi Gokhale to sketch Alluri’s character for him and this rare photo here, was in fact clicked for the film. NTR got the character sketched and accordingly he dressed up to check out his look for Alluri’s character. The photo boosted NTR’s confidence and the script work was finished too. Finally in 1957, on January 17^th they recorded a song and announced to the press about the film. But, unfortunately the film didn’t proceed any further. In order to clear a few doubts regarding the historical facts of Alluri’s life, the film was postponed and Panduranga Mahathyam was started instead. Later, even though there were reports that the film started again, it was the film Sri Sita Rama Kalyanam that happened. Even after many years, with many postponements the film never took off, leaving a wish unfulfilled. But, here’s the rare still of NTR in his dream getup of Alluri Sitarama Raju.
