Ready To Quit Politics If T-Bill Is Passed: Kiran Kumar Reddy

Hyderabad, Feb 4: In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Andhra Pradesh chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy said he would quit politics if the Telangana Bill is passed in the parliament. The controversial proposal that sanctions the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh to turn the region of Telangana into its own state will be reviewed by the cabinet on Thursday. "They should send a bill which is ready to be put in Parliament. They have sent a faulty bill, a draft bill... if this bill is accepted by Parliament as it is, I said, I'll quit politics", Kiran said. The bill was rejected last week by the Andhra Pradesh assembly. "The bill has to go to the Cabinet, it has to go to the President and then come to the Parliament. There are over 9000 amendments which were not debated by the Assembly", said Reddy, who added that the Centre is behaving like they are Telangana representatives.  "They have forgotten most of the people of Andhra Pradesh don't want the state divided", he said. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who has been standing against the state bifurcation from the beginning said, "I'm standing with the people of Andhra Pradesh. State is more important, my future is not important I'm the 16th Chief Minister, it is a temporary post. The state is permanent. People are permanent". People will suffer if the state is divided, said the CM. "There is no state in the country which has been divided when the state legislature has rejected it. I am sure that the bill cannot come to the Parliament", he expressed hope. "The future of the youngsters of the state, farmers is important. Let us not mix political gains with the future of a state", Reddy said. Pro-Telangana agitators says its resources and economy have been unfairly exploited by the two regions of Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema. The IT hub of Hyderabad, which falls in Telangana region, is a main bone of contention between the two groups.
