Criminal Case Against Mukesh Ambani Over Gas Prices, Says Arvind Kejri

New Delhi:  Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has accused billionaire Mukesh Ambani of conspiring with Union Oil Minister Veerappa Moily to inflate the prices of gas for the capital.

Mr Kejriwal said anti-corruption officials are filing an FIR or First Information Report against the minister and Mr Ambani, who is the chairman on Reliance Industries Limited. An Fir is the first step towards the filing of formal charges.

The chief minister said that prices were escalated to allow windfall gains to Reliance, partly by creating an artificial Reliance, partly by creating an artificial shortage.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken on Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani once again and has even ordered an FIR against him. Kejriwal has said that he has received a complaint of RIL making windfall gains from the KG Basin deal.

"There is a complaint from 4 senior persons in my government against Reliance. They have complained that Reliance Industries was given gas wells a year ago. It cost less than one dollar, they were given for 17 years at 2.3 dollars but after that they gave it for 4 dollars. They created an artificial shortage and gave just 18 per cent gas. They have alleged that from coming April, they'll double the rate and give it for $ 8 per unit," Kejriwal said.

He has asked his Anti-Corruption Bureau to file FIRs against Mukesh Ambani, Murli Deora and others. "ACB is in the process of filing FIRs against Murli Deora, Veerappa Moily, VK Sibbal, Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Industries and others," he said.

Kejriwal has also said that he will write to the Prime Minister for probe into the case and will ask him to take back gas wells from RIL. "I will write letters to the Prime Minister and Veerappa Moily to look into the matter. The central government should take back gas wells from RIL," Kejriwal has said.
