Can’T Support T-Bill: Advani

BJP senior leader LK Advani plainly told the T-TDP, who met him seeking BJP support to the T-Bill that BJP can’t support the bill in its present shape as it has several loop holes. He said that BJP will resolve the T issue when it comes to power after general elections. He said that he has never seen the parliament disturbed so much in his 40 years’ experience.

 

Therefore, it is clear that BJP is not going to support the T-Bill in the Parliament. So, Congress high command is left with two options to pass the bill.

 

1. It has to garner support from all other parties. However, this is highly impossible because many of them like Shivsena, DMK, AIADMK, TMC, SP, TDP etc have already declared that they will not support the T-Bill. If, Seemandhra Congress MPs, Union Ministers stick to their present stand, they also may vote against the bill.

 

2. Passing the bill with voice vote taking advantage of the havoc created by Andhra and Telangana MPs in the house is another choice. But, to implement this idea all those parties with neutral stand have to walk out from the house at the time of voting, so as the Congress strength exceeds those opposing the bill. If, Congress could implement this idea, there is no need for any debate in the house. But, this is also very tricky option.

 

However, Congress has also kept ready an escape route from this whole issue. If, it fails to pass the bill due to any reason, it will simply transfer the blame on to opposition parties. It will assure Telangana people that if they re-elects it the first thing it will do after taking charge of new government is passing the T-Bill.
