Consultants seek info from the government departments

The Vijayawada Guntur Tenali Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority (VGTMUDA) has begun the process of preparing master plan for the extended areas. The master plan is expected to be ready in two years from now.

Hyderabad-based M/s Aarvee Associates, Architects, Engineers and Consultants Pvt. Ltd has been awarded the project in September last. The consultants would have to prepare the plan for the extended area of 5,113 sq. km so as to meet the requirements of 2031.

An introductory meeting on the master plan was conducted at UDA premises here on Thursday. MROs, MDOs, heads of various government departments attended the meeting.

On the occasion, the consultants said that the study would focus on review of existing situation in terms of population growth rate, land utilisation, travel patterns, delineation of planning and traffic zones and identifying problems in each and every planning zone.

The process involves various stages that include data collection, preparation of base map, surveys, interactive workshop on existing land use map and data analysis, spatial strategy and preliminary master plan etc., they said, adding, “A lot of data was required for the preparation of the master plan. The government departments and agencies have been requested to provide the information available with them in three weeks.”

“The government agencies and departments have been requested to furnish the data available with them so that the master plan would be more practical, implementable and effective,” said Krishna District Collector M. Raghunandana Rao. The data needs to be provided at the earliest.

State capital

On sidelines of the meeting, speaking to reporters VGTMUDA Chairman Vanukuri Srinivas Reddy said that the master plan was being prepared as per the laid down norms. To another question, he said, '' the master plan would meet all the requirements of a State capital if the situation demands.It might be the future capital of residual Andhra according to the highest placed officials ”

VGTMUDA vice-chairman M. Rama Rao, Aarvee consultants vice-president (urban planning) Y. Ramesh and others were present.
