AIADMK is the largest party in TN. It almost always gets the most votes because of MGR. DMK wins sometimes because they form very calculative alliances although their vote share is less compared to AIADMK.

 

You can check the stats in previous elections.

 

Tamils may get cabinet portfolios, but that is not the reason for their successful state. export oriented economy is. And with a global slowdown, it's obvious TN will be affected more than AP. Next GDP figures will show it.

 

And Tamils are generally better educated. literacy rate among 15-19 yr olds is close to 100% now in TN.. In AP it is about 85%
