I'm a BJP supporter. 

 

Announcing PM candidate before elections are over is an insult to parliamentary democracy.

 

Modi is doing the right thing by holding on to CM post. His first responsibility is to the people of gujarat who have voted him back to power (again insult to parliamentary democracy, but since its at state level its slightly excusable), not to the people of India who haven't yet voted for him (as an MP).

 

He's technically only being the face of the party (PM candidate is the name given to it), and is coordinating and evangelising his party's message to a larger crowd.

 

I think its perfectly okay. I only wished they stop calling him the Prime Ministerial candidate. Too much of an US influence there, and we don't even have the same democratic system.
