The Congress ward member Bonti, who kissed party vice-president Rahul Gandhi during his Assam visit few days back, was burnt to death by her husband on Friday.

Following the incident, the husband tried to set ablaze himself also and was rushed to the nearest hospital with serious burn injuries.

According to initial reports, the couple had an heated argument over the kissing incident after which husband set ablaze the woman.     

Bonti came into limelight for kissing Rahul Gandhi during his Assam visit on Wednesday. 

The Congress vice-president Rahul is criss-crossing the country to revive his party's fortunes ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.
