Telangana Formation Day Will Be June 2Nd....govt Decides

The Central government on Tuesday decided to designate June 2 as the bifurcation date for Andhra Pradesh and the creation of Telangana. Andhra Pradesh will be divided into Seemandhra and Telangana having 13 and 10 districts respectively.

 

On March 1, President Pranab Mukerjee had signed the Telangana Bill paving way for the formation of the 29th state of India. Andhra Pradesh, which is being split to create Telangana, has been placed under President's Rule. The state Assembly is under suspended animation.

 

The decision, confirmed by Rashtrapati Bhawan, comes after the Union Cabinet had on February 28 decided to put Andhra under President's Rule.
