Dalit Girl Tonsured, Smeared With Ash And Paraded For Talking To A Boy

A 14-year-old orphan Dalit girl was tonsured and paraded with her face smeared with ash as a punishment for talking to a boy in Kadwa Tola village.

According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the panchayat tied the victim and the boy and kept them hungry for the whole of Monday night. The next morning they slapped a fine of Rs 12,000 on both of them.

Although the panchayat released the boy after his family promised to pay the fine, the girl’s head was shaved and whe was made to run around the village.

Reports state that six out of seven accused including the village headman Vishnudeo Rishi has been arrested.
