Yes, you heard it right. From now begging in public places will considered as a crime and who ever does indulge in it will be arrested. Experimentally Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is going to impose ban on begging in Hyderabad.

According to a survey 10 years back the number of beggars in Hyderabad were hardly 3,000 but, now there are around 70,000 beggars in the city. These figures show how begging has become a livelihood for many and even this is turning out be a hugely profitable business.

The homeless, orphaned parents or those who are genuinely have amputated limbs were the beggars few years back. But, now this is also turning into a profession for many. They act wieredly to grab your attention and force you to pay theam a penny or so. Even they demand the amount of the money they want form you. Earlier donating to beggars used to be out of concern but now it is becouse of force. Wherever you go in the city you will end up surrounded by a bunch of beggars. Malls, parking lots, temples, signals, bus stops you name the place there the beggars will be. Many of the beggars rest in MMTS stations and even they made them their homes, which is troubling the passengers. These beggars mostly make women their target and harass them if they deny to donate money to them. They are creating havoc at the traffic signals and harassing the motorists. Mainly the important junctions in the city, like Paradise circle, Khairtabad X roads, RTC X roads an Jubileehills Check Post, are the victims of these so called beggars. Certain group of beggars are even indulging in doping and criminal activities.

If this rule will be in force who ever is begging in the public places will picked up, which doesn't need any kinda of warrant, and will be sent medical tests. Out of them whoever is physically fit will be sent to training hostels where they will train them in some livbelihood courses for three years. During the training they will be given accomodation, 2 pairs of clothes to wear and timely food. After the completion of the training they will be sent out with some amount of money to lead respectable life. The other beggars who are physically unfit will be sent to beggars house.

We hope atleast form now there will be beggar-free and better city.

At least half the people here hit the bull's eye, there are many more genuine issues threatening to bring down our state and no sane lawmaker in his right state of mind would draft a new law like this.

1) The Indian government is reluctant to even ask the Swiss Banks to divulge information about the Indian green money stored in their vaults even after they stated that a request for the details of the account holders should come from an authorized regulatory body representing the nationality of the account holder: In simpler words, bowing down to increasing international pressures, Swiss Banks, which for a long time remained havens for black money are finally giving in, and will reveal the details of the account holders if only the concerned government inquires.

2) We spend crores of rupees in order to provide security for, and maintain the lone surviving terrorist Kasab in the bloodiest attack on Indian soil ever only to let his counsel argue in the court "My client has nothing to do with the Mumbai attacks, the video evidence of the attack was fabricated and my client only came to Mumbai to become a Bollywood hero". When the hell are we going to realize that a common man and a bloodthirsty terrorist need not be accorded the same legal status in whatever adjudication procedure(if any) we need to follow in cases like this.

3) 1/3rd of the hungry people in the world live in India and yet we do nothing about it.

4) If beggars are a menace what then of the Rowdy sheeters and factionists and murderers and rapists who sit in A/C halls to decide the fate of this so-called great and intellectual country?

5) In depriving the beggars of their only means of livelihood, while I do agree that there is a large chunk of them who take to beggary only to avoid hardwork, but what of the at least 20% (by all conservative means, its at least 20) of them who have no other means to provide for themselves? The government should try to treat the roots of the problem, which in turn again point to corruption and mismanagement of the state and A pathetic state of policy making.

WHEN YOU CAN'T FEED THEM, WHY DO YOU WANT TO PUNISH THEM FOR TRYING TO FEED THEMSELVES? I'D BE HAPPY TO SEE A BEGGAR EKING OUT A LIVING ON A MEAGRE INCOME. MUCH BETTER, A BEGGAR WHO IS TAKEN INTO REHAB, GIVEN THE NECESSARY TRAINING AND AN OPPORTUNITY TO EARN HIS OWN LIVELIHOOD BUT I'D HATE TO SEE A BEGGAR ARRESTED AND BEATEN FOR TRYING TO MAKE HIS ENDS MEET.

Not to support beggary but that's the sad state of affairs for which you, me and all of us are equally responsible, it is lame and irresponsible to point the finger towards the politicians for everything, we make the politicians, we put them on the high pedestals of authority; we fight amongst ourselves in the name of caste, creed, race, religion, region etc and bigotry has gotten the better part of our thinking. Will update the post as and when I remember other evils.
