Rice Idli - Today's Recipe For Mutyam

"Idly" is  a common break fast every where in India  . Its healthy , low calorie break fast .There are different  verities in idly , rice idly , rava idly , instant rava idly . So in this post  i am sharing rice idly which will be very soft to eat , easy and quick to make. But needs preparation 1 day before .

Ingredients:-
 

  1. Urad dal                                            1 cup
  2. Idly rice / dosa rice / broken rice        2 & 1/2 cup
  3. Cooked rice                                      1 small bowl
  4. Salt                                                  1/2 tsp
  5. Cooking soda                                    1 pinch 
  6. Water
Method:-
 
wash and soak urad dal & rice in a vessel with enough water .Leave it for 3 -4 hrs , later grind them in a grinder or blender .
While grinding add cooked rice to  it , and add little water in intervals  so that u will  come to know the thickness of batter is correct or not .
Batter thickness should be medium, not too liquid , nor too thick and   it should be little rough when u touch , u should feel like touching  rava   :)  .
Keep the batter in a closed  vessel after grinding , for whole night , so that fermentation can take place .
Next day morning add salt and soda and mix well , if u feel batter is still thick then add little water and mix well , take idly plates fill the batter and keep in a big cooker , add 1 big cup of  water to cooker base , close the cooker , don't put vishal  instead  put a small cup in that place.
Keep high flame , keep the cooker for 8 min on high flame , later turn off the stove and leave it for 2 min.
Now u can remove idly plates from cooker and immediately pour water on the back side of idly plates , which helps u to remove idly easily. 
Now take a t-spoon and remove idly , serve hot with coconut chutney and sambar .
