they use electric motors which are charged by the energy they use in applying standard breaks.

 

This electric motors gives additional 160 horsepower.

 

 

this is useful to overtake the car, but this HP is limited to use only for 30 seconds inside lap.

 

 

why change in techonologies / regulations

 

 

now since we all konw f1 is a big platform for developing latest technologies in cars.. they need to put in big regulations that helps regular cars in coming years..

 

all the technolgies that we see in high end cars are once developed in f1 cars few years ago..

 

the same way nasa developed cool techonolgies that we use in todays advanced vaccum cleaners

Back in the 1980s, teams could use a 1.5 litre turbo engine and BMW had a 4 cylinder model that would hit 1,400hp in qualification mode which is at least twice what the current models can manage.

so summary entante.. instead of making v6 engines more economical we are making v4 enignes more powerfull(it will reduce space and also more room for more fuel space or batteries)

 

and also remember even the exhaust turbo is used to charge batteries through turbochargers

 

 

so meeru anukunatlu sound of the car is not reduced just because of the v6 engine.. it is because the trubocharger is acting like muffler and affecting its way of relase of exhaust under the fins of the car while making it more aerodynamic...
