The pitch for fairness creams in India is a tad overdone. There are creams that allegedly help a woman not only hook a husband but also snag the best jobs in town. A father is seen despairing about his dusky daughter's marriage prospects as she stands in front of the mirror in sheer dejection.

 

That's the body image that has been hammered into a woman's subconscious for years till she is conditioned to believe that her self esteem is directly linked to the colour of her skin. There are creams to lighten even her armpits and vagina, for god's sake. It's about time someone hit back with a good old-fashioned, kick-in-the-groin parody of the whole fairness industry propaganda.

Enter Gore Gote - India's first testicular fairness cream. A bunch of stand-up comedians take a popular idea and make such a loud, wholesome and satisfying parody of it that you wonder if the wheels are whirring inside the head of some marketer somewhere, contemplating actually turning this idea into an actual product that will sell. And knowing India's passion for lighter skin, this might actually work.
