Apparently there are 10000 acres of forest land near the city which can be used to meet the needs of the new capital. It is located near Gannavaram which has an airport and is also conveniently located to Machilipatnam, the port city. It has rail connectivity and the NH9 passes through the area. Muralikrishna, the President of Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry also opined that Hanuman Junction would be the ideal choice and would result in all round development. Meanwhile the Committee constituted by the Centre to decide on a new capital for Seemandhra has decided to postpone the search for a new capital until the elections are over as it might violate the ‘election code of conduct’. The committee feels that candidates might make use of the findings of the committee to canvass for votes in their constituency by promising to lobby for their particular city as the capital.
