Case 1:

Case 2:
In India, if X is dating Y, everything is hidden and just before marriage parents will know, they will marry irrespective of parents opinion.

In case 1, there is no nammakadroham to parents, in case 2 there is nammakadroham to parents because everything is hidden and by the time parents know it matter is too deep and they have no choice. which is why parents feel cheated.
