3-Alarm Fire Destroys Gaithersburg Complex

GAITHERSBURG, Md. —Montgomery County fire crews are working to battle a massive three-alarm apartment building fire in Gaithersburg.

The fire started at a construction site in the unit block of Upper Rock Circle around 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters said they found heavy smoke and flames coming from one of the buildings belonging to the Gables Upper Rock apartment complex.

Fire officials said they believe gas tanks inside the building are possibly feeding the flames.

There are no reports of injuries so far.

Shady Grove Road near Interstate 270 is closed until further notice.
