FE exam nenu raasa Mech dhi... I would say it is not too tough nor too easy.... If you strong background with the fundamentals during your BTech in Mech. This should be easy for you with a little preparation. If not you need to prepare for a month atleast.

As one of the member said, it is not once a year test. It is conducted twice a year.

Another important thing is , FE exam vaadu rules change chesaadu recently. Ippudu General exam theesesaru.. COre groups vaalu andaru core exam raayali pakka... no other option.

FE exam paper is same throughout the country but the results are based on each state. So for example if I get 75 out of 100. In Texas say the cut off score is 75 and say in Florida it is 70. If you would have written the exam in Texas then you would have passed and in Florida you would have failed.

Idi naaku ela telisindhi ante Maa friend (verey state) naa laaga same score vachi vadu pass ayyadu and nenu naa state lo fail ayyanu... same score ki okadu pass inkokadu fail....

Also write this exam if you think you are going to stay in that state for a very very long time. In case you move to a different state... nee FE exam and if PE exam kuda raasi vunte they won't be accepted in other states.. You have to write the exam again if you want PE license in that state.

dhani batti decide chesko raayala vadda ani.

Paparayudu, I think what you said is mix of right and wrong. FE and PE exams are not state specific. Cut off score is same for every state. The cut off score is not fixed, it changes depending on the performance of all participants together. This information is available in NCEES website. For example, it can 52/80 last year but 54/80 this year. It all depends on how people performed in the exam. After the exam they sit together with several engineers and psychologists and decide on cut off score. Although it doesn't scatter too much it can be +/- (1-2) every exam. Also, almost all states do not send you scores if you pass. They just say "you passed". But if you fail they will send your score, so that you can evaluate your performance and do better in the next exam.

I heard there are many changes in FE exam. Now you can take it several times in an year instead of just two like before. Also, no more general option from now on. You have to take the core (mech/civil) in FE too both in morning and afternoon sessions.

People choose different states because of ease of acceptance to sit for exam in those particular states. But, for FE I think most of the states just accept your application.

When I prepared for FE exam, I studied for 2 weeks in general and 1 week focused. I used this service: http://eitexam.com/ I dont know if they still offer it, but it's usually $15 for 4 months subscription. It helped me.

Let me know if you have more questions.

You CAN do that. But FE is not a license. When you pass FE and apply for PE in NY, the NY state board will ask you to contact MI to transfer you FE pass information. That's all. After you obtain PE, you can reciprocate it to any state in US.
