1. City Girls: Modern girls in the cities are mostly the only child in their family (due to One-Child Policy) and thus are spoiled bitches. But they are still better than Western women in the obesity and sexual experience department. 

 

2. Country Girls: Most of these girls have siblings and their family is not wealthy. Due to prevalence of hypergamy, Chinese parents will only spend money educating their sons (even paying for his wedding and mortgage). Without any money left to help their daughters, country girls have no real options other than getting married before The Wall ™ hits them. These girls are easy to get and they are fully aware that their life depends on you. (Caveat: Beware of marriage scams)

 

3. City Guys: These guys have education and income, but most of them are too stupid and they waste time/money on city girls, when the same amount of money can buy them country girl mistresses. (yes that is a plural).

 

4. Country Guys: If these guys are poor they’d be screwed and no women want them. This is why their parents spend all their money on them trying to help them establish a career and a family. In the last 20 yrs, as the country is developing, some of these guys can sell their inherited land to real estate developers for big $. In which case, these guys can live like a king.

 

5. Cost of Marriage: The groom and his family is usually expected to pay for the home (or down pmt). Recently, city girls are starting to demand the home be fully paid for.

 

6. Divorce: The groom and bride can elect to share properties and keep properties separate. If kept separate, the asset belongs to whoever the name it says on the registry. If the asset is the family home, they may look into how it was paid for (ie parents).

 

7. Marrying foreign: Chinese girls, especially those worthy of marriage are usually risk adverse to marrying foreign. The exception is oversea Chinese, due to their income.

 

Result:

City girls are bad mates for marriage because of their high expectation, costs, general inability to please a man and unwillingness to bear children.

Country girls are easy to get for reasons stated above. Furthermore, they understand the best chance to tie down a man is to bear his child. They are fully willing to be a wife. And if necessary, become a mistress.

 

Guys in general are more responsible, especially when she bore a son. Men with income will prefer a mistress due to the risk of STD and the satisfaction of being served like a king. In addition, due to One-Child Policy, having a mistress is one common way to ensure having a son to carry the family legacy.

 

This creates a situation where men are competing for a smaller pool of women (ie country girls). Country girls can find a man anywhere, as long as they are young and willing.
