Look in sulekha, lots are there, and u can see jersey city also, commute will be around 1.5 hrs by train to nyc, lot of indians there and also in queens lot of students too, you should search in sulekha definitely you can get accommodation.

Flushing NYC, my friends used to stay there and commute they have subways etc.. Bronx is there, has indian community but I wouldn't recommend.. Brooklyn becomes too far but its also possible.. if no jersey city these are your options.. try sulekha for flushing or use craigslist
