And to quote Human rights people , some times the fear of death penalty might provoke the culprits to kill the victim. That's one reason they oppose death penalty.

Dude, I am all for severe punishment to the culprits no compromise on that. But death penalty is only a populist move by the govt.
Think about it, unless people change, no one can stop rapes no matter what the punishment is.

We cant change society,Fisrt to stop rapes we need these severe punishments like life imprisonment and death penatly for rape and murder cases or Public punishment like cutoff hands. I think govt awarding death penatly for rape and murder cases only, I dont know about Shakthi mill case I think  they have chance to go for supreme court. SC might change it into life imprisonment.
