if so let me tell you there are already so many big data engineers in the market...unless there is specific reason that ur skillset would match big data technologies, dont go into it..
btw big data is not like SAP where u learn a tool and can just naviagte through screens..you need good java skills to make good in big data

I agree with you, oka tool nerchukunte pani ipodu ... different clients will be using different tools. java kacchitanga ravali ani emi undadu, python inka vere skills set unna saripotadhi

big data lo if you want to do a good job, java is the first one. Core is java and all tools in hadoop are built on top of it.
If you know SQL, you can "manage" to do few tasks. Anything complex scenario you will have to get back to java.
If you are looking to become master on something you work, dont get into hadoop unless you are ok to learn and code in java.
But if your stream is not development and just maintenance kind of role, you can get along with just sql queries..these days even QA and BA/BI know SQL.
It depends on your current skills and where you want to go

Dude I got trained from someone in India and I liked him and would recommend him to any of my friends. If you need his info, I can forward it to you but he is from india. Dont know anyone from US who is giving training

Guys Big Data is not a tool,Its a problem experiencing the companies who is getting the lot of data from lot of sources and not able to handle with the relational data base systems..One of the solution is Hadoop

 

Hadoop is eco system which is having lot of tools Map-reduce,Hive,Hbase,Pig,Oozie,Sqoop,Flume,Zookeeper etc...Core java skills is must and should to write the map-reduce..Remaining all  you can manage with SQL and ETL skills

 

Hadoop with Java projects --- 70% right now

Hadoop with Datawarehouse related projects -- 30%..Example Facebook

 

The demand for hadoop is increasing day-by-day and the almost all the companies are moving into hadoop.So don't worry try your luck in hadoop.
