Khadgam Posted April 20, 2014 Report Posted April 20, 2014 Staggering amounts of cash being spent by contestants in Andhra Pradesh during this election has the Election Commission of India worried. Chief Election Commissioner V S Sampath revealed on Saturday that the total unaccounted cash netted in the state accounts for 46 per cent of the total seizures in the country. Out of the Rs 232 crore seized across the country since March 5, the day the general elections were announced, Andhra Pradesh accounted for as much as Rs 105 crore. "AP is on the top among the expenditure-sensitive states in the country. We have identified 101 constituencies as expenditure-sensitive and asked the officials to take stringent steps to control the flow of cash, liquor and gifts by the candidates," the CEC said.
