Baadshah_Afdb Posted April 25, 2014 Report Posted April 25, 2014 Kakinada: There are good chances of either Kakinada or Rajahmundry in East Godavari district becoming the capital of Seemandhra state, said Union minister for tourism K. Chiranjeevi on Thursday. Mr Chiranjeevi was taking part in a road show with the Union minister for HRD, Mr M.M. Pallam Raju, former ministers Mr Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad, Mr C. Ramachandraiah, DCC president Mr Dommeti Venkateswarlu and others in the district. He started his road show at Tuni before moving to Amalapuram through Thondangi, Perumallapuram, Vakalapudi, Valasapakala, Sarpavaram Junction, Drivers Colony (Turangi) and Mummidivaram. While addressing the crowds in Tuni and Drivers Colony, Mr Chiranjeevi said the people of Seemandhra should not lose heart over losing Hyderabad and it was possible to build a capital city better than Hyderabad as the people of Seemandhra were very hardworking and there were enough resources in the region. He said that if Kakinada or Rajahmundry became the capital, the region as well as the state would develop vastly. He appealed to the people to elect Congress candidates to ensure the state’s bright future by forgetting the bifurcation issue and added that the Congress alone could take Seemandhra on the path of progress. He said that the family of Mr Pallam Raju had served the people for three generations and Mr Raju had vastly developed the Kakinada Parliamentary Constituency. Congress candidates for the area, Mr Parvatha Purnachandra Prasad, Dr Panduranga Rao, Mr Pantham Nanaji and others participated in the road show.
