When we deploy our application we would like to notify our users saying that the website is under maintenance, in general the web administrator will pull the maintenance page and will kill all the existing user sessions on the IIS, so to make it simple ASP.Net has introduced app_offline.htm file concept. Just place app_offlie.htm in the root directory of web application and the ASP.NET runtime will detect the existence of App_Offline.htm and will shut down the application please visit my blog to learn in detail of this feature. http://vsaditya.blogspot.com/2014/04/appofflinehtm-feature-in-aspnet-20.html
