San Francisco: An Indian-origin entrepreneur has escaped jail in the US despite being caught on camera beating his girlfriend 117 times in 30 minutes, reports Huffington Post. RadiumOne CEO Gurbaksh Chahal has been sentenced to three years' probation, 52 weeks in a domestic violence training programme and 25 hours of community service.

In a series of tweets, Chahal has called the allegations against him false. "I maintain my innocence regarding these exaggerated allegations. I got cornered to accept a misdemeanor plea with a $500 fine to resolve the matter and move on with my life."

Chahal, once named one of America's "most eligible bachelors", was arrested last August when his girlfriend called 911 and reported domestic violence. She reportedly told police officers that she was unable to breathe and Chahal told her four times, "I'm going to kill you."

The 31-year-old tech millionaire posted a one million dollar bail after his arrest.

Last week, he had pleaded guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence and battery charges, dodging 45 felony counts for the videotaped beating of his girlfriend.

According to Huffington Post, security camera footage showed him beating and kicking his girlfriend repeatedly over a half-hour period in his San Francisco home; prosecutors cited 'cheating' as the reason for the violence. (Read the Huffington Post report here)

A judge ruled that the surveillance video could not be used as evidence because the police seized it illegally from Chahal's apartment.

Chahal sold his first online-ad network, ClickAgents.com Inc., to ValueClick Inc. at the age of 16 for around $ 20 million in stock. Seven years later, he sold another company he founded, BlueLithium, to Yahoo for $300 million in cash.
