He got into a mud-slinging match with the BJP over Narendra Modi's marital status questioning the credentials of a man who abandoned his own wife, all the while himself having an extra-marital affair with a younger woman. Congress general secratary Digvijay Singh on Wednesday admitted to having a relationship with married Rajya Sabha television anchor Amrita Rai. 

Congress leaders, especially Digvijay, continued their attack on the BJP's prime ministerial candidate even after he accepted being married to Jashodaben and his wife’s name found its way to the affidavit filed by him. Digvijay had then written, “Can women of this country trust a man who stalks a woman.” 

But after constant attack on Modi's personal life, Digvijay was himself stunned by a picture collage suggesting an extra marital relationship between him and an an anchor which went viral on the Internet. 

Despite being enchroaching on Modi's life for quite some time, after the viral pictures started doing rounds on social networking websites, Digvijay Singh reacted calling it an encroachment on personal life. 

Soon after that pictures hit the web, the senior Congress leader confirmed having an extra-marital affair with the journalist. 

He wrote on the social networking website, Twitter, “I have no hesitation in accepting my relationship with Amrita Rai. She and her husband have already filed a mutual consent divorce case.”

Menwhile, Rai also confirmed that she's filed a mutual consent divorce papers and that she will be marrying Digvijay Singh.

Affair started after Amrita Rai decided to get a divorce or was their affair the reason for her divorce, it is anyone's guess.
