Guys, never book with Orbitz. ORBITZ IS CRAP!!!!!!!

I have booked a flight back in January through Orbitz, which is a third party vendor selling the flight tickets on the carriers behalf. The carrier was United for my flight.

When I did the reservation online, the price shown on the website was about $1200 but when I checked my credit card the next day, I was charged $1410 instead. So I immediately contacted ORBITZ to resolve the issue. They denied to accept that it was their mistake and told me that it never happens.

I canceled my ticket, though ORBITZ won’t give my money back instead they said they will keep it for my future travel requirements and that I should only use this $1410 with United carrier only.

So, I had to take the issue to my BANK and disputed the transaction. One thing to note here is that, the charge on my card was directly from UNITED, not ORBITZ, which I do not understand why.

Eventually, I WON the dispute against UNITED, because UNITED was the one who charged my BANK.

A month after I won the dispute, now ORBITZ started sending me emails threatening to pay the amount back to them which I won in the dispute saying that United is asking Orbitz to pay. When I contacted my Bank, they have told me that Orbitz cannot ask me money and that the merchants have to sort the issue among themselves and cannot ask the customer again as I won the dispute already.

I have to put my effort all over again now as I received multiple emails from Orbitz and finally now they are sending emails as FINAL notice before it goes to collections.

my advise.... me local or federal Attorney General office website ki vellu..... consumer section kinda file a complaint section vuntundi... dantlo unfair business practices ani option vuntundi.... neku ayyindi, neku vunna proofs anni attach chesi complaint file chey.... they try to mediate between you and business.... legal ga rendu vaipula nundi statement vastundi... appatiki vedu serious vunnadu ani merchant venakki vellochu... higher officials ki ee AG office nunchi velle statement veltundi kabatti..... vallu ichina statement tho neku oka idea vastundi.... evadi taggara strong proofs vunte vade winner..... AG office vadi response neku mail chestundi.... once again AG office just mediate chestadi..... ne kosam fight cheyadu..... 

vadi response weak ga vunte..... then file a complaint in small value disputes court.... idi google cheste easy ga dorukutundi.... dorakaledu ante neeku AG office vadi response mail chesina time lo same mail lo aa courts information pedutundi.... first court hearing date kuda dispute resolution under court clerk vuntundi.... ippati varaku neku lawyer akkaraledu..... lawyer fees per hour kinda charge chestaru... neeke bokka.. ikkada varaku vallu chesedi emi vundadu..... court clerk tho hearing taravata real judge mundu date istaru.... aa time ki kuda nuvve argue chesukovachu... nuvvu truthful avute ne statements chalu.... court ardham chesukuntundi... legal lo holes, lawyers anavasaram... naku antha scene ledu ante ippudu lawyer ni hire chesuko.... court lone Bar counsel vuntundi... valle cheap ki vastaru....

terms and conditions baaga chaduvuko....if you clicked agree and paid then if you go to court they will say that you agreed to cancellation terms (which is money will not be given to you but you will get travel vouchers to travel with united ani.)

 

so you agreed to cancellation terms but did a mistake of contacting your bank to dispute your transaction(inspite of knowing the terms and conditions) and getting your money back which is violating the terms and conditions...

 

Orbitz is a big firm...they will have big legal team..

 

on another note...unless orbits knows your SSN i dont think it will go to collections... not sure if there is a way for orbitz/collector to get ur SSN if you didnt share with them...

 

act wise. tell them you will pay if you give a travel voucher which can be used on any airline.

Yes, be aware of ORBITZ, they dont charge your card, airlines will charge the card, so you may be hit with unexpected international transaction fee. I had booked 2 air india flight tickets from orbitz, for 1190 each, since it was charged by AI which collects money in INR, my bank charged a transaction fee of 70$, when I contacted ORBITZ, they paid back with a 50$ voucher to be used in ORBITZ in the next year. Local flights may b ok, but when you buy international tickets be aware of the carrier ad transaction fee.

 

PS: Transaction fee can be avoided if you use Discover IT card which wont charge international transaction fee
